Arezou Moeini (b. 1973, Tehran) is an Iranian-Canadian multi-disciplinary conceptual artist based in Vancouver, BC. She received her BFA in painting from Soore University, Tehran in 1998. After her relocation to Canada, she continued her studies at Emily Carr University with a focus on 3D materials and media, and mold design. This enabled her to expand her practice beyond painting and discover new opportunities for expression.

Moeini’s installations are largely characterized by the use of light as both a literal and metaphorical medium. While the influence of her Persian heritage is apparent in her work, her pared down and playful contemporary aesthetic seeks to engage the viewer through spatial perception, imagination, and an instinctive, untarnished curiosity that we all share. Her recent installation project, Sky Within employs the geometric pattern, called Shamseh and Chalipa in Persian language, which signifies light in Iranian art and architecture.

Moeini’s works have been exhibited in various venues in Vancouver; Tehran, Iran; and Crotone, Italy. In 2021, she served as the director and co-curator of the Maker Labs’ pop-up gallery exhibition entitled “Letters to COVID”. In 2023, Moeini was short-listed for the Burrard Arts Foundation’s (BAF) Garage Program. In addition, she has edited and published a book of contemporary artist Jamal Bakhshpour’s works, titled Jamal Bakhshpour: Selected Artworks (2001).
